There are several ways to become a Legal Nurse Consultant. You will need to be a Registered Nurse with one of the following: Associates Degree, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree. Although there are no legal requirements for becoming a Legal Nurse Consultant, it is strongly recommended that you take a course to become familiar with the standards expected in your practice as a Legal Nurse Consultant.

Do I need a Bachelor’s degree to become a Legal Nurse Consultant?

What is a legal nurse consultant’s salary?
The amount of money you make as a Legal Nurse Consultant will depend a lot on the type of Consulting work you do as well as whether you are self employed or work for someone else. If you choose to work as an employee for someone else such as a an insurance company or an Attorney, you can expect to make as much per hour or more than you make currently as a Registered Nurse. If you are self employed, you may be able to charge over $100.00 per hour for your consulting services. If you choose to become an Expert Witness, you may be able to charge $250.00 and up for your Expert Witness services.

Where does a Legal Nurse Consultant work?
A Legal Nurse Consultant can be self employed and work out of her home office or she can rent space in an office building. Many consultants who are self employed enjoy working out of their own home office. If you choose to work for someone else, you will work out of their office and generally work Monday thru Friday in an office building.

Do I need to take a test to become a Legal Nurse Consultant?
There is no legal requirement that you take a test to become a Legal Nurse Consultant. However, as a professional, representing Registered Nurses, it would be very important to your career to seek training for your practice. Do I Need to Take a Test to Become a Legal Nurse Consultant?
